Embrace comfort & consciousness by choosing natural materials

The garments that we wear closest to our most sensitive skin should not only feel soft but should also serve the delicate area optimally. In this blog post we dive into the benefits of choosing natural materials for underwear & the reasons why we choose our specific seams.

Women's bodies are complex, and natural discharge is a perfectly normal occurrence. Natural materials accommodate this aspect of your body's rhythm, allowing it to be absorbed without discomfort. Unlike synthetic fabrics, which can exacerbate moisture-related issues, natural fibers provide a harmonious environment that respects and supports your body's natural processes. Natural materials excel in breathability, facilitating proper air circulation. This natural ventilation helps maintain a feeling of freshness, mitigating discomfort and supporting your health. Moreover, natural materials are celebrated for their softness - perfect for your every day experience.

Another reason to steer towards natural materials is sustainability. It is not the case that all natural materials are more sustainable than synthetic ones - however, most of them are. Natural fibers rely on natural resources as opposed to synthetic fibers, which mostly rely on fossil fuels. When zooming in on natural materials, they differ in terms of how sustainable they are. This has to do with different factors: for example the amount of water needed to produce the fibers, the amount of chemicals involved and the amount of energy. When taking in all different factors, lyocell came out as the winner for us, as opposed to cotton which many people expect to be the most sustainable. Cotton production involves a lot of water and pesticides causing the overall process to be less sustainable than the production of lyocell. Moreover lyocell is more durable, which should result in less waste. Taking all of these factors into account, combining with the fact that lyocell is extraordinarely soft, lyocell was the best fit for us.

Something that we want to be transparent about is that we cannot prevent using synthetic fibers completely. In order to make clothing fit a body comfortably, stretchy materials are necessary which are made from synthetic fibers. Because of this our thongs have an element of synthetic fibers to them, but are almost completely made of natural fibers, 92% to be exact.

Another conscious choice we have made in terms of our design, is that we always use seams. You may wonder: why? The reason that we made this choice is because shifting occurs substantially quicker when an undergarment is seamless. We minimize visible lines by choosing flat, minimal seams which are barely visible under tight clothing. In this way, we anchor the underwear in place while maximizing invisibility under your clothing!
