The clothing we wear closest to our most sensitive skin deserves extra care. But not all underwear is designed with that in mind. In this blog, we explain why we consciously choose natural based materials (TENCEL™ lyocell) and what this means for your comfort and health.

Why natural materials?

The female body is complex, and natural discharge is a completely normal and healthy phenomenon. The materials that come into direct contact with the vulva play an important role in how comfortable you feel throughout the day.

Natural based materials absorb moisture in a gentle and effective way, while synthetic fabrics can trap moisture and increase discomfort. Natural fibers work in harmony with your body and help keep the vulva fresh and comfortable.

What is lyocell and TENCEL™?

For our underwear, we use an innovative fiber made from wood pulp derived from eucalyptus and beech trees from sustainably managed forests: lyocell. It is exceptionally soft, highly breathable and absorbs moisture even better than cotton, making it ideal for underwear that comes into direct contact with the vulva.

The breathability helps prevent heat and moisture from becoming trapped, keeping the vulva fresh, balanced and comfortable throughout the day.

TENCEL™ is a protected brand name owned by the Austrian company Lenzing for their lyocell fibers. It is not a different material, but a high quality form of lyocell with the same soft, breathable and skin friendly properties. Because we use these fibers, we are able to use the name TENCEL™.

A more sustainable choice

From a sustainability perspective, this material is also a conscious choice. The production process uses less water and fewer chemicals than many other textiles. The fibers are biodegradable, long lasting, naturally hypoallergenic and antibacterial, which reduces the risk of irritation. A major advantage for the sensitive skin of the vulva.

Why we also use a small amount of synthetic fibers

We believe it is important to be transparent. Stretch is essential for a comfortable fit, which is why a small percentage of synthetic fibers is needed. Our underwear contains a small amount of elastane, but still consists for 92 percent of natural fibers.

Why we choose to use seams

We also make conscious design choices. We use seams because seamless underwear tends to shift more easily. Strategically placed seams help keep the underwear in place, while remaining as invisible as possible under clothing.
